7 things to consider before a boob job

Conveniently located to serve San Antonio, Eagle Pass and the surrounding area.

Women have been getting “boob jobs” for decades – the goal being to noticeably enlarge their breasts. But, girl, things have changed big time since the days of hard-as-a-rock implants. And that’s great news. Now, if you’re thinking you could use a boob job, you can look forward to far more realistic, comfortable results. And more personalized options.

But there’s a lot to think about first. Here are 7 things you definitely want to consider before making your decision:

1. What Do You Want to Accomplish?

Bigger, rounder breasts may be your goal, but breast enhancement can also correct sagging or asymmetry and improve contouring.

2. What Are Your Options?

Most women think that breast implants and/or surgical breast lift are the only options when they consider a boob job. But at Eterna Cosmetic Surgery we offer non-surgical or minimally invasive options that are typically performed as in-office procedures. More women are candidates for these procedures, so you may be amazed and pleasantly surprised when you learn about additional options such as:

  • Fat transfer breast augmentation
  • Breast augmentation with Renuva
  • Breast lift with BodyTite, Morpheus8 and/or EuroThreads

There will be downtime for recovery, but how long that will take and what it will involve depends on the procedure you choose.

3. The Difference between Augmentation and Breast Lift

It’s usually obvious to most women that their breasts are droopy and need a lift, but sometimes women don’t realize this. Dr. Hernandez notes that some women have droopy breasts that sag a mild to moderate amount because they are so deflated. “These women benefit from simply adding the right amount of volume to fill the deflated breast tissue envelope,” she notes. She can use fat transfer, Renuva or breast implants to give a fuller, lifted appearance to the breasts.

4. Future Pregnancy

Future pregnancies can affect results of any type of breast procedure because of the significant changes in the size of the breasts during the pregnancy and with breastfeeding. Pregnant or lactating women are not candidates for any type of boob job.

5. Cost

Because there are now so many alternatives for breast enhancement, costs are something you will want to compare along with potential results. In general:

  • Breast implants are the most cost-effective option, especially with saline implants placed just below the breast tissue glands (above the muscles).
  • Fat transfer breast augmentation is the next most cost-effective option. The cost varies depending on how many areas of liposuction are performed and whether the augmentation is performed in 1 or 2 sessions (for added volume).
  • Breast augmentation with Renuva Adipose Matrix can be one of the most expensive options because the product is costly and many syringes, typically 10 or more, are needed to add significant volume to the breasts. However, this is the best option for some patients that do not want implants and do not have enough excess fat to transfer to their breasts.
  • The Eterna Breast Lift using RFAL BodyTite Pro, Morpheus8 and sometimes internal suture suspension using EuroThreads can provide a significant lift to the breasts and is half the cost of a surgical breast lift.
  • Breast lifts, especially breast lifts with implants, can be the most costly option because of all the costs involved (hospital, anesthesia, surgeon fees and cost of implants).

6. Additional Mommy Makeover Procedures

If you’re considering a boob job to correct the after-effects of childbearing, you might want a Mommy Makeover instead – a combination of procedures that can restore youthful contours to your breasts, abdomen, lift your buttocks, and/or rejuvenate vaginal tissues.

7. The Importance of Your Personal Consultation

Scheduling a consultation gives you much more than a chance to meet Dr. Hernandez. She will learn about your personal goals, examine your breasts, and then explain all the options before recommending the best choices for you. Without that time together, you could easily overlook the right option or other considerations that would impact your results and eventual satisfaction.
