At Eterna Cosmetic Surgery, we offer two types of modern “thread lifts” that can work beautifully to rejuvenate your appearance without facelift surgery – EuroThread Lift and Suture Suspension Facelift (or Neck Lift). At first glance, these two procedures may seem much the same, but in fact they are designed to achieve different goals.

So, if you’re thinking it’s time to give your face a refreshing uplift, which should you choose?

These procedures definitely have some important things in common:

  • They are outpatient procedures performed in our office.
  • They provide immediate visible results as well as further ongoing improvement. You can expect significantly smoother, more youthful contouring and tighter skin in the treated area(s).
  • They leave no scars.
  • They can be combined with Botox or dermal fillers.

How EuroThreads Work

EuroThreads are used to improve the texture of the skin and/or for lifting the eyebrows or lower face modestly. Dr. Hernandez strategically places the threads – the same type of suture used in heart surgeries – by inserting them with a special needle. As the needle is removed, the suture remains in place, serving to support the tissues and stimulate production of new, naturally supportive collagen.

For this procedure. Dr. Hernandez uses a local anesthetic, and patients may choose to use the relaxing breathable gas ProNox.

Over time, the body slowly absorbs the suture material, but results remain much longer. EuroThreads can be used on the neck and décolletage as well as very delicate eye and lip areas.

One distinct difference between the two procedures is that Dr. Hernandez can use EuroThread Lift to improve skin condition and achieve more lifted contouring on other parts of your body besides your face. Common patient requests include the breasts, arms, thighs, above the knees, and the abdomen (to also improve scars or stretch marks.) To further enhance these results, Dr. Hernandez may recommend adding BodyTite treatment.

How Suture Suspension Works

Suture Suspension Facelift or Neck Lift provides more significant results because it is more complex. This procedure also uses specialized types of suture to support underlying tissues and stimulate new collagen production. However, the sutures themselves and the way in which Dr. Hernandez places them provide greater, longer-lasting lift compared to EuroThreads.

In addition to the strategically placed surgical sutures for added lift and contouring, Suture Suspension Facelift combines FaceTite to firm the deep tissues, Morpheus8 to improve the texture of the skin and Liposuction to remove excess submental fat. This makes it an ideal choice for patients who want to significant improvement without having to undergo surgery.

For this procedure, Dr. Hernandez uses local anesthetic and patients have the same ProNox option, but they also receive an oral sedative.

Downtime

EuroThreads Lift requires only minimal downtime. Suture Suspension Facelift patients should budget two days off (the procedure day and the next day), then can gradually resume all normal activities over the next couple of weeks.

Good Candidates

Both procedures are safe and effective for all skin types and genders. Suture Suspension Facelift is typically the better choice for those in their 40s or 50s who are seeing more pronounced skin laxity in the face and/or neck.

Results

EuroThread Lift results last about 18 months. Suture Suspension Facelift or Neck Lift can provide more extensive and more noticeable results for 5 years or so.
