We often talk about the eyes and nose as “central” features of your face, but in truth, every part of the face plays an important role in your overall appearance. The eyebrows help create a frame at the top, and your jawline forms the lower frame of your face. More than other features, your jawline creates a distinct profile when viewed from the side as well as the front.

That contour says a lot about you! As we get older, loss of moisture and slowing the production of collagen and elastin cause skin to lose its elasticity. It starts to sag, and you start to see jowls. Genetics, sun exposure, and even stress can cause jowls to develop.

But relax! We’re here for you, with the ultimate jawline contouring treatment – Radiesse! At Eterna Cosmetic Surgery we love Radiesse for so many reasons.

Radiesse is a dermal filler, so treatment is simple

Fillers don’t require a big time commitment or downtime, one of the many reasons why they’re so popular with our patients. But not all fillers are the same. Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez chooses Radiesse for jawline contouring because “it has the perfect consistency to provide the contouring effect needed over bony structures such the jawline.”

Radiesse is cost-effective

“The jawline is a large area to treat, when compared to other areas of the face such as smile lines or marionette lines,” explains Dr. Hernandez, “so it takes more product to contour the jawline.” Radiesse is thicker than almost all other dermal fillers and comes in 1.5 mL syringes (most other fillers come in 1 mL syringes), yet it is similarly priced. So you get more product for the cost.

Skin continues to improve on its own

Radiesse is a biostimulant, so it triggers natural collagen production in the tissues where it is placed. Even though it dissolves after one year, most patients notice that their results last longer because of the increased collagen in the tissues.

Radiesse is suitable for all genders and ages

So virtually everyone is a good candidate for this treatment. Rarely, someone may have an allergic reaction to Radiesse, although we have never seen that here at Eterna Cosmetic Surgery. If someone has had a prior allergic reaction, Dr. Hernandez uses Juvederm Voluma instead for jawline contouring.

Radiesse Can Do More than Rejuvenate

We all want to look our youthful best, and even younger adults can start to develop jowls. Radiesse treatment can address moderate softening and sagging to restore a slimmer appearance, and it can also smooth signs of sagging to help your jawline remain firm and well-defined.

For some patients, however, aging isn’t necessarily the issue. If your jawline is asymmetrical or your chin appears out of balance, Dr. Hernandez can use Radiesse to create a more symmetrical appearance. If your chin is pointy and you want a look that is softer, stronger or more chiseled, Dr. Hernandez can use Radiesse to modify the shape. If you have a naturally narrow jawline and want it to appear broader, Radiesse may be the right jawline contouring solution for that, too.

Ready for a jawline that says all the right things about you? That’s the “ultimate,” but every person has different preferences and goals when it comes to personal appearance. Whether you want to make a change or turn back the clock, scheduling a personal consultation with Dr. Hernandez is the best way to explore your options and decide what is best for you.
