Botox is the world’s most popular facial rejuvenation treatment, and no wonder. It helps smooth out lines across the forehead, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet around the eyes to give the face a more youthful appearance. Over time, Botox also helps prevent new lines and wrinkles from forming. But you don’t have to stop there because Botox combines beautifully with virtually any other facial rejuvenation treatment or procedure.

Using Botox Can Improve your Results

Botox is an excellent complement to other treatments because it works differently, by relaxing the muscles that would otherwise cause dynamic wrinkles to appear, deepen and eventually become permanent. At Eterna Cosmetic Surgery, we frequently pair Botox with dermal filler treatments that add volume to other areas of the face such as the cheeks and lips.

But many patients, young or older, seek facial rejuvenation treatment to improve conditions such as loose skin, hyperpigmentation, blemishes, or acne scars. Botox doesn’t directly address these issues, but by continuing your Botox injections along with other procedures, you can achieve your overall aesthetic goal – a face that looks naturally healthier and more vibrant as well as more youthful.

Aside from dermal fillers, we can combine Botox with:

  • Chemical peels
  • Microneedling
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Radiofrequency-based treatments (FaceTite, AccuTite, BodyTite, Morpheus8)
  • Platelet-rich plasma tr

You Don’t Need to Make an Extra Appointment

Since Botox injections take just a few minutes, we can easily combine them with other treatments or procedures in a single session. For example, if you are getting both Botox and dermal fillers, Dr. Hernandez will do the filler first because she applies fingertip pressure and sometimes massages the area to ensure proper distribution. She never massages an area after injecting Botox because that might increase the chance of it dispersing to neighboring muscles that she doesn’t want the Botox to affect.

So when combining another treatment with Botox, Dr. Hernandez always administers the Botox last.

Keep that Younger Look Going

Many skin rejuvenation procedures require multiple sessions and/or periodic refresher treatments to produce the best possible results and help you retain those results long term. Botox and fillers in particular require regular renewal because the body naturally absorbs the injected material. Just how long that takes depends on the specific filler used. So the best ongoing plan for you depends on which treatments you get and your aesthetic goals.

For example, Dr. Hernandez notes that most patients initially choose to have multiple areas treated with Botox and fillers. In this case, she recommends coming back to see her about every 4 months for a Botox treatment. At that time she can determine if some type of additional filler treatment is also needed. This allows patients who have had multiple areas treated to personally customize their maintenance program to get the safest, most effective long-term effect.
