A Brazilian Butt Lift offers patients the opportunity for a more rounded, pleasing posterior. It enhances the shape and size of your buttocks to give you more confidence and a balanced look.

Results from a Brazilian Butt Lift include increased size, lifting, enhanced contour, corrected proportional imbalances, and improved firmness. Dr. Hernandez has performed Brazilian Butt Lift surgery on many thrilled Eterna Cosmetic Surgery patients across San Antonio. This procedure can transform the appearance of your entire body!

How does a Brazilian Butt Lift work?

Dr. Hernandez removes some of your own fat from the abdomen, waist, or love handles using liposuction. The fat is purified, then, Dr. Hernandez skillfully injects the fat into your buttocks to create pleasing curves and contours.

How do I prepare for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Proper preparation in advance of your Brazilian Butt Lift can both facilitate healing and maximize the results of your procedure.

Make your appointment

Following their initial consultation with Dr. Hernandez, most patients schedule their Brazilian Butt Lift procedures within two to four weeks. Dr. Hernandez typically schedules a pre-procedure visit two weeks prior to the procedure date, to discuss preparation in detail, and to review what to expect during the recovery period.

Maintain an ideal weight

Since a Brazilian Butt Lift uses your own fat to augment the size and shape of your buttocks, shifts in your body weight and total body fat can affect your enhanced posterior. That’s why in advance of your procedure, Dr. Hernandez recommends you are at your ideal weight, and are able to maintain that weight.

Prepare your body for healing

Following your Brazilian Butt Lift, your body will need to heal from the liposuction part of the procedure. It will also need to accept and integrate the new fat into the buttocks. Our bodies are well-balanced machines that require care and consideration at all times, but especially before surgery.

To prime your body for surgery and ensure your body is best prepared for healing, you should be sure to eat a well-balanced diet with plenty of vegetables and fruits in advance of your procedure. Stay hydrated with water and avoid excessive junk food or alcohol leading up to your Brazilian Butt Lift. If you’re a smoker, you’ll need to stop smoking for at least six weeks before your procedure.  Dr. Hernandez also advises patients to avoid alcohol for one week prior to your Brazilian Butt Lift and one week after, as alcohol can cause excessive swelling, which causes discomfort and can even affect your body’s ability to accept the grafted fat.

You’ll need to stop taking any NSAID medications before surgery, including aspirin, Advil, Aleve, and Motrin. Dr. Hernanez will review your medications, vitamins, and supplements, and will recommend any other pills you may need to stop in advance of your Brazilian Butt Lift.

Get mentally ready for the procedure

Your Brazilian Butt Lift will have a tremendous impact on your appearance and your confidence. As you prepare for life with your new curves, taking some time to prepare emotionally can be very beneficial.

To start, it’s important to have realistic expectations for the procedure. Dr. Hernandez will discuss your goals and your situation with you during your initial consultation, so that you are fully informed and prepared for your Brazilian Butt Lift.

Understanding what your recovery period will entail can also help you mentally prepare for the procedure. After your Brazilian Butt Lift, you will be standing more than usual. Throughout the day and night, you will need to avoid sitting and putting pressure on the buttocks for prolonged periods of time. As part of that requirement, you will need to avoid sleeping face up for six weeks.

Most patients say this is the hardest part of recovery for them, so preparation and understanding is especially important. Dr. Hernandez also advises patients to purchase a pillow to put under your thighs during recovery. This will decrease pressure on your buttocks while you are sitting.

It’s normal to be nervous about any procedure. Some patients find that practicing breathing or meditation in advance of a Brazilian Butt Lift can help provide mental clarity. The benefits of meditation extend well beyond your procedure as well!

Stock up on supplies

You’ll need some downtime to relax and recuperate following your Brazilian Butt Lift. To make the period following your procedure as smooth and stress free as possible, be sure to stock up on essentials (including food, water, and other nutritional needs, plus health and beauty products) so that you have everything you need within reach.

Even items like cell phone chargers, batteries for the remote control, and other items that aren’t top of mind can come in handy following a Brazilian Butt Lift. Be sure to think through the activities and items you’ll need or want after your procedure and add anything you might need to the list. Then, be sure to order anything online or head to the store well in advance of your procedure.
