You had Liposuction to get rid of stubborn fatty areas and enhance your body contouring. But now you have developed Lipo fibrosis, a type of excessive scar tissue that can harden to produce uncomfortable internal symptoms and distort the appearance of your smooth new contours. At Eterna Cosmetic Surgery, we use Aspen therapeutic ultrasound to treat Lipo fibrosis and restore your comfort and shapeliness.
What Causes Lipo Fibrosis?
Surgical procedures can leave behind visible scars as the body repairs the wound. While Liposuction requires only tiny incisions that result in minimal visible scars, scarring can also occur internally. In some cases, the body over-produces scar tissue, which can then become hard or bumpy. Inside your body, excessive scar tissue can feel tight or constrict movement, and in some people it is actually painful.
Here at Eterna Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez performs liposuction using an advanced VASER device that is much gentler on the body than traditional liposuction techniques. Nonetheless, Lipo fibrosis can still happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or the area on the body where Liposuction was performed.
If you have Lipo fibrosis, Dr. Hernandez can meet with you for an initial consultation. After learning about your medical and treatment history, she will examine you and then you can discuss treatment options including Aspen treatments. While some surgeons recommend repeat liposuction to treat fibrosis, Dr. Hernandez does not because in patients who are prone to developing fibrosis the same problem is more likely to occur all over again.
What Happens During Aspen Therapy Treatment?
Aspen rehabilitation is an innovative ultrasound treatment that is safe, effective, and painless because it is non-invasive. The treatment is performed by our licensed medical aesthetician, who is also a certified massage therapist. Treatment is delivered through a device that sits on the skin and sends ultrasound waves to the deep tissues to break up abnormal scar tissue.
It works because the high-frequency sound waves create mini-vibrations that loosen and soften the fibroblasts that makeup scar tissue. (Fibroblasts are a key component of connective tissue.) As this happens, tissues can return to normal and you will once again see the smoother contours you expected following liposuction.
Because ultrasound treatment works gradually, we offer Aspen rehabilitative therapy in a series of 10 weekly treatment sessions, along with weekly lymphatic massage therapy treatments for about 4 to 6 weeks. This promotes proper healing because lymphatic massage stimulates natural removal of toxins from the body. When started within a week following a liposuction procedure, lymphatic massage can help prevent post-surgical fibrosis from forming.
What Happens After Aspen Therapy Treatment?
Not only is Aspen treatment both painless and effective, but it also requires no downtime. You can go right back to your day buoyed by the knowledge you are taking action to reduce the scar tissue that is causing your capsular contracture or Lipo fibrosis.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Lipo fibrosis doesn’t discriminate when it comes to gender, age, or location and it is safe and effective for everyone.
So if you have recently undergone Liposuction or you are experiencing symptoms of Lipo fibrosis, now is the time to schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Hernandez. Waiting will only cause you to suffer more, longer. Aspen therapeutic ultrasound, in combination with lymphatic massage therapy, can help prevent or reverse those unwanted symptoms.
