Introducing Plasma IQ! We are very excited to bring this outstanding new facial rejuvenation treatment to our patients in San Antonio. Plasma IQ uses non-invasive plasma sublimation technology that allows Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez to deliver even more precise, personalized results for patients with specific concerns, especially in very small, delicate areas.
One example we know you will love? The eyes! Wrinkled, sagging eyelids make you look older and tired. They can even be uncomfortable and interfere with your vision. Plasma IQ can smooth and tighten the skin to restore a more open, vibrant expressiveness that lights up your whole face. But that’s not all.
What Can Plasma IQ Do for You?
Dr. Hernandez can use this regenerative treatment on small areas that cannot be treated with a Renuvion wand, such as around the eyes, mouth and other areas on the face. Specifically, Plasma IQ is effective for:
- Performing non-surgical blepharoplasty – wrinkle reduction on the upper and/or lower eyelids -- as noted above. Dr. Hernandez says Plasma IQ is now her go-to choice for treating around the eyes because it produces better results than older treatment options.
- Reducing the appearance of crow’s feet.
- Removing benign skin lesions such as skin tags, seborrheic keratosis and other growths on the face, neck or body.
- Producing impressive wrinkle reduction.
- Minimizing lip lines.
While some providers use Plasma IQ to reduce scarring and stretch marks, Dr. Hernandez believes that Profractional and Morpheus8 are still the best choices for that.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Plasma IQ?
This treatment is safe and effective for adults of all genders and skin types. The best candidates are those looking to rejuvenate their eye area or address smaller, specific facial imperfections.
What Happens During Plasma IQ Treatment?
You may already be familiar with Renuvion J-Plasma, another plasma-based treatment we offer. The Renuvion wand is introduced underneath the skin, where it delivers radiofrequency energy with helium gas across a plasma arc to the undersurface of the skin and the fibroseptal network in the tissues. We use Renuvion to enhance the appearance of the lower face (jowls), neck and body.
Plasma IQ is different in that it works on the surface of the skin. The hand-held device has a metal tip that delivers radiofrequency energy across a plasma arc that coagulates small areas on the skin. This stimulates activation of fibroblasts to produce collagen, which in turn produces tighter, smoother skin.
Patients report little to no discomfort (Dr. Hernandez uses a topical anesthetic prior to performing the treatment). Treatments typically take about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the target area(s).
Patients may also choose to add platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to their Plasma IQ treatment, which can further enhance results and speed recovery.
What Happens After Plasma IQ Treatment?
Because Plasma IQ is highly precise and controlled, risk of side effects is very low. Patients typically experience swelling in the treated area, which may last for a few days. The treatment also produces tiny brownish scabs which will persist for up to a week before sloughing off. At that point you can start to see impressive results – smoother, tighter skin.
Little downtime is required, but most patients wait until swelling has subsided to resume all their normal activities. Strenuous activities are not recommended for the first few days.
Results are significant and long-lasting. Although a single treatment can often produce noticeable results, most patients achieve maximum improvement with 2 or 3 treatments. For example, to correct lip lines, most patients will see significant improvement with just 1 treatment, whereas patients with severe wrinkles will need 2 treatments with Plasma IQ. Any residual lines can then be treated with Bellafill for long-lasting results.
