Buttock Augmentation in San Antonio
As with the rest of our bodies, aging, weight loss or gain and other factors can have a tremendous impact on our appearance. In particular, the appearance of our buttocks can change over time and make us look older or less healthy than we desire.
Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez performs buttock augmentation for Eterna Cosmetic Surgery patients in San Antonio who wish to regain a more youthful, healthy appearance of their buttocks.
What is Buttock Augmentation?
Buttock augmentation, also called a buttock lift or gluteoplasty, lifts and tightens the skin of the buttocks to provide you with optimal contours and ultimately, a more youthful look.
Who is an ideal candidate for Buttock Augmentation?
Ideal candidates for buttock augmentation should be in good health, and at or able to maintain a stable weight. To maximize and preserve results, you should be living a generally healthy lifestyle before choosing buttock augmentation.
During your consultation, Dr. Hernandez will discuss in detail your goals and conduct a comprehensive examination. She will then provide you with highly personal recommendations to help you reach those goals.
What happens during a Buttock Lift or Gluteoplasty?
During a buttock lift, Dr. Hernandez will remove excess skin on and around the buttocks, and reposition the tissue of the buttocks to create a more pleasing contour and youthful appearance. A buttock lift is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
How else can I enhance the appearance of my buttocks?
Brazilian Butt Lift
For those patients who wish to enhance the appearance of the buttocks and create a more rounded appearance, Dr. Hernandez offers patients in San Antonio a Brazilian Butt Lift. The Brazilian Butt Lift is an excellent option for patients who do not like the shape of their buttocks or otherwise wish for a more balanced appearance.
During a Brazilian Butt Lift, Dr. Hernandez uses VASER Liposuction to remove some of your own fat, typically from your abdomen, waist and love handles. The more advanced VASER technology makes this procedure much more gentle, keeping more of the fat cells intact to give even better results than traditional liposuction. Once Dr. Hernandez has removed the fat, she will inject the fat into your buttocks and use her extensive skills to build pleasing curves and contours.
Buttock augmentation is also frequently combined with Cellfina cellulite treatment or a tummy tuck to further enhance the appearance of your midsection.
Bellafill® Injections
If you’re seeking buttock augmentation without downtime, surgery or scarring, Dr. Hernandez offers Bellafill® injections to patients in her San Antonio office. Bellafill® is an FDA-approved filler for acne scars and facial folds; however, Dr. Hernandez uniquely uses it to improve indentations and add volume to the buttocks.
With buttock augmentation from Bellafill®, injections increase the size of the buttocks, while creating a smoother surface and an overall rounder buttocks. Bellafill® works by stimulating your tissue to naturally produce more collagen. This leads to long-lasting results (up to 5 years or longer!) and very natural-looking results.
You’ll see immediate results after treatment with Bellafill®, and your results will continue to improve for 6 months after treatment. Patients across San Antonio are thrilled with the results Dr. Hernandez can provide with Bellafill® buttock augmentation!

How do I prepare for a Buttock Lift or a Brazilian Butt Lift?
If you are a smoker, you’ll need to stop smoking at least (6) weeks prior to buttock augmentation so that your body is prepared and ready to heal.
Avoid taking aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) like Advil, Motrin, and Aleve for two weeks prior to surgery. Some vitamins and supplements may also need to be stopped prior to surgery. Be sure to provide Dr. Hernandez with a complete list of your medications and/or vitamins and supplements so that she can advise you what to stop in advance of your procedure.
Prepare your body for the procedure and healing process by eating healthy foods and hydrating your body in the days and weeks leading up to surgery. Also, you’ll need someone to drive you home following your buttock augmentation.
What can I expect after a Buttock Lift and Brazilian Butt Lift?
Buttock Lift
Dr. Hernandez will prescribe pain medication to help you handle any pain, swelling, or bruising that follows buttock augmentation. Patients should keep their incisions clean and avoid excessive force, abrasion, or motion during their recovery.
You should plan on taking time for some rest and relaxation following buttock augmentation. You should literally lay low, and avoid sitting for one (1) week following your procedure. Avoid sleeping on your back, but instead lay on your stomach or side during recovery.
Typically, you will be able to return to work after two (2) weeks; however, that period may change if your job requires a significant amount of sitting. Generally, normal activity (including strenuous exercise or otherwise extended activity) can be resumed approximately four to six weeks after your procedure.
Brazilian Butt Lift
Plan on taking 2 days of downtime following the day of your Brazilian Butt Lift. In most cases, you will be able to return to work 3 days after the procedure.
A majority of patients describe soreness after a Brazilian Butt Lift similar to that of a hard workout. The discomfort is largely tolerable without prescription strength medication.
But Dr. Hernandez will prescribe you pain medication following your procedure. If you need it, you may take the medication for up to 3 days after your procedure (although it is unlikely you would need any medication after the first 48 hours).
Incisions for a Brazilian Butt Lift are small, and strategically placed in your natural skin folds. Your incisions will drain watery fluid for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure, and you will need to change absorbent pads regularly during this time.
Dr. Hernandez recommends wearing a special type of compression garment that compresses your areas treated with VASERlipo (but does not compress the buttocks!) for 6 weeks following your procedure.
Following a Brazilian Butt Lift, avoid sitting for prolonged periods greater than 15 minutes for 6 weeks. Most patients purchase a special pillow sold in pharmacies to keep pressure off their buttocks when driving or attending functions.
