VASERlipo is a minimally invasive procedure that creates a firmer and more athletic profile. With her artistic vision and specialized training in body contouring, Dr. Hernandez can help you reach your aesthetic goals.

What Is VASERlipo?

VASERlipo is an enhanced version of traditional liposuction treatment. Commonly referred to as VASER liposelection, this treatment minimizes the chance of damage to the body’s tissues in comparison to traditional liposuction.

In traditional liposuction, the tip of a cannula (a small suction probe) is used to loosen fat from the surrounding tissues so it can be removed via medical suction. This loosening process causes trauma in the connective tissues, resulting in unnecessary bruising and swelling.

VASERlipo has greatly improved this process by integrating ultrasound energy. Upon insertion of VASERlipo’s cannula, ultrasound energy is emitted. This emulsifies the fat cells, avoiding any trauma to the connective tissues. The cannula then safely suctions them out of the body.

This innovation allows for faster recovery, provides excellent and natural-looking outcomes, and ensures surgical precision. Areas that can be treated include the upper arms, chest, chin and neck, upper back, waistline and stomach, hips and thighs, and buttocks.

Am I a Good Candidate for VASERlipo?

The best candidates for a VASERlipo treatment are healthy individuals with firm skin, good muscle mass, and a BMI of 30 or below. A VASERlipo procedure is not a shortcut to weight loss and is specifically intended for contouring. VASERlipo is ideal for non-smokers and people with no medical conditions that could negatively affect healing, like heart disease, malnutrition, and diabetes. Consult with your surgeon before considering a VASERlipo procedure.

Your VASERlipo Consultation

A VASERlipo consultation will involve an in-depth discussion of your appearance goals. Dr. Hernandez will help you visualize your potential results in order to set realistic expectations.

Be ready to provide your complete medical history, including current prescriptions and any allergies, to help plan a safe VASERlipo treatment. You may have to take a break from any medications that could result in excessive bleeding during the procedure.

The VASERlipo Procedures

VASERlipo will begin with marking the selected areas for treatment. This will help the surgeon easily locate incision sites for inserting the cannula. After creating the marks, anesthesia will be administered. In many cases, the typical choice is local anesthesia with sedation. For larger parts of the body, general anesthesia may be preferred.

A tumescent saline solution will be injected into the selected areas for treatment to further numb the area, break down fat cells, and reduce bleeding. The incisions will then be created to insert the cannula in the treatment areas.

Depending on the treatment area and the amount of work needed, VASERlipo may last for one to several hours.

The VASERlipo Recovery Process

After your VASERlipo procedure, you may return home. It will take two to three days for the treatment areas to feel normal again. In the first few days, expect fluid to leak from the incision sites. Swelling, bruising, and numbness may be experienced for a time after the procedure.

For the best results, wear a compression garment for six to eight weeks to help maintain the firmness of the treatment area and control swelling. Avoid strenuous work for the first two to three weeks of recovery.

Once all swelling is gone, you will be able to see your full results. A physically healthy lifestyle will help maintain the results of VASERlipo in the long run.

How Much Does VASERlipo Cost?

The total cost of VASERlipo will depend on the selected area for treatment and the amount of work needed for the liposuction procedure. Since VASERlipo is purely cosmetic, medical insurance will not cover the expenses. Speak with our financing department to discuss price and available payment options.
