Cellulite is so frustrating! It’s not your fault, and there’s nothing you can do in the way of diet or exercise to get rid of it. Fortunately, we know how much you want it gone, so here at Eterna Cosmetic Surgery we offer several approaches to treating cellulite. You can look forward to smooth skin and contours once again.

All cellulite is not the same. Some types make the skin’s surface appear wavy or lumpy, other types appear as shallow puckering or deeper dimples. However it looks on you – and there’s a good chance you have more than one type – cellulite is caused by fibrous connective bands that pull your skin down in places. Treatments work to release the bands and fill the indentations.

1. Subcision

For this procedure, Dr. Hernandez uses a specialized needle to precisely cut the fibrous bands beneath dimples, allowing the skin to bounce back to the desired smooth appearance. Subcision is fast, however most patients experience some minor pain and bruising for a few days afterward.

2. Cellfina®

This is a high-tech version of subcision that is even more precise. For this, Dr. Hernandez uses a small vacuum-assisted device with a microblade that cuts each fibrous band. It usually takes about 45 minutes, then you can look forward to results that are clinically proven to last at least 5 years. Cellfina® is particularly effective for treating deep dimples on the back of the thighs and buttocks.

3. Radiesse

Thinning this popular, gel-like injectable filler allows Dr. Hernandez to improve the appearance of wavy cellulite by adding volume. At the same time, because Radiesse stimulates natural collagen production, skin quality begins to improve on its own and continues even after the body absorbs the Radiesse, which takes about 18 months. Treatments can be repeated as needed in the future.

Dr. Hernandez uses a local anesthetic to thin the injectable gel, which increases patient comfort. She can also customize how much she uses, creating a hyperdilute Radiesse that is just right for each patient’s needs.

4. Renuva Adipose Matrix

This is another injectable option designed to fill in uneven surface areas and improve skin condition. Renuva is a different type of product, in that it is made from allograft adipose matrix. A derivative of human fat. While most fillers are made from hyaluronic acid that is absorbed by the body, Renuva contains growth factors that trigger natural production of new blood vessels and stimulates your own fat cells to enlarge. Patients can see immediate cellulite improvement, but also enjoy long-term improvement as new, healthy skin tissue forms. Renuva is an especially good choice for treating dimpled cellulite in smaller areas.

85% of women have cellulite, but you don’t have to be one of them.

A personal consultation with Dr. Hernandez is the best way to determine which type of cellulite you have and the best way to get rid of it. Since it is not unusual to have multiple types, she often creates a multi-pronged approach to treatment by combining multiple options. The entire treatment can still be accomplished in one session.

For example, if you have large areas of deeply dimple cellulite, she may recommend a combination of subcision and Renuva injections. That way you can get both immediate visible improvement and long-term skin health improvement.
