The P-Shot® For Men in San Antonio

Lots of men experience erectile dysfunction due to aging or other reasons. Many take medication for that such as the famous “little blue pill.” But now there is a non-medication, injectable alternative which can provide impressive results that last a year or more. It’s called the Priapus Shot®, or simply P-Shot®.

This treatment was developed by Dr. Charles Runnels, the same doctor who created the O-Shot® for women, as well as the Vampire Facial. Having trained with Dr. Runnels himself in the very specific method of using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for penile rejuvenation, Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez now offers this procedure to patients at Eterna Cosmetic Surgery here in San Antonio.

The P-Shot® was created specifically to improve symptoms of erectile dysfunction, including:

  • Decreased sensation
  • Inability to achieve firmness or to maintain it during sex
  • Decreased size (associated with aging)
  • Peyronie’s Disease (angled erection that makes sexual relations difficult or painful)

The P-Shot® can benefit men of any age. It works because the injection uses platelet-rich plasma made from each patient’s own blood. Platelets contain growth factors that trigger and support generation of cells and blood vessels. With the P-Shot®, PRP is injected directly into the penis. PRP is not only effective, it is very safe. There is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction because it is made from the patient’s own blood rather than a foreign substance.

What happens during the P-Shot® procedure?

This is an in-office treatment that takes about 20 minutes overall. First, patients receive a nerve-blocking local anesthetic that numbs the entire penis. While that is working, Dr. Hernandez takes a small blood sample and runs it through a specialized centrifuge to separate the platelets from other blood components, creating the PRP. She then injects the PRP into 5 locations along the shaft of the penis and once into the head.

For patients who suffer from Peyronie’s Disease, Dr. Hernandez follows a slightly different protocol.

What happens after the P-Shot® procedure?

There is no downtime required following treatment, and you can resume sexual activity the same day. Although some men experience almost immediate improvement, most see full results in about 2-3 months. Patients typically report improvements such as larger girth, stronger arousal, and straighter erections. If you have been taking prescribed Viagra or Cialis, you may find you no longer need it, or if you do, you require a lower dose. Some men also find that the medication will work better for them.

To maintain optimal results, Dr. Hernandez recommends repeating the treatment every 15 to 18 months.
