Suture Suspension Facelift is a valuable option for women and men who want to reverse signs of aging on their face and/or neck without undergoing a full surgical facelift and necklift. But is this the best option for you? Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez says that depends primarily on the severity of the loose skin and your desired results.
It’s important to keep in mind that your face and neck may not show equal signs of aging. Facial lines and wrinkles may appear, along with signs of laxity such as looseness or sagging, while your neck still looks smooth and youthful. In other people, double chin or platysmal banding and wrinkles can make the neck appear aged while the face still retains its smoother, plumper contours.
Because the face and neck are so closely connected, the appearance of one area can definitely affect the perceived appearance of the other area. At Eterna Cosmetic Surgery we know you want to look your youthful best overall, so Dr. Hernandez can recommend a customized approach to rejuvenation to help your entire face and neck not only look smoother but pleasingly balanced.
Suture Suspension Facelift Is Best When You Need More Lift
Dr. Hernandez recommends Suture Suspension Facelift and/or Suture Suspension Neck Lift for patients who have moderate to severe skin laxity in the face or neck and who want to achieve the most lifted look possible without surgery. Most of these patients are middle-age or older. Results are impressive — the Suture Suspension technique can achieve 50-70% of the lift that a surgical facelift or necklift would produce.
Suture Suspension Facelift is an in-office procedure performed using local anesthetic and sedation. It is safe and effective for all skin types, presents few risks or complications, and requires only a short recovery period. Patients can usually resume basic normal activities after a couple of days.
During the procedure, Dr. Hernandez first uses Renuvion J-Plasma to gently deliver radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin. If needed, she uses VASERlipo to reduce excess fat in the double chin area or jowls. Then, she inserts specialized surgical sutures (not threads) in strategic locations. The sutures have tiny barbs and are anchored down to deep tissues to help lift and hold the skin in a higher position as it heals for an immediately improved appearance as well as a long term lifted look to the face and neck.
What If You Only Have Mild to Moderate Skin Laxity?
For patients with early signs of skin laxity or sagging, Dr. Hernandez offers a Scarless Facelift using Renuvion J-Plasma skin tightening to firm the skin on the lower face. She also offers Scarless Neck Lift with Renuvion J-Plasma skin tightening to lift and firm the skin on the neck. So, again, patients can choose to address just one or both areas. In addition, she uses VASERlipo to reduce excess fat in the double chin area and jowls, if that is needed.
Scarless Facelift and/or Neck Lift is an excellent option for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity. To ensure patients enjoy maximum results following their treatment, Dr. Hernandez recommends medical grade anti-aging skin care products to firm the skin, such as Neocutis Lumiere for around the eyes and Neocutis BioCream or BioSerum for the face, neck and décolletage. She may also recommend Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling with Plasma to help improve the texture, quality and firmness of face and neck skin.
Everyone Is a Good Candidate for Facial Rejuvenation
Dr. Hernandez says both men and women desire a more youthful lifted look in the face and neck, preferably with minimally invasive techniques and little downtime. Of course, which treatment option or combination is best for your face at this time is very individual. A personal consultation with Dr. Hernandez allows her to not only answer your questions but examine your skin, to make recommendations that will fit your preferences and help achieve your immediate and long-term goals.
